Cowbridge Music Festival at Cowbridge

An innovative series of classical music events taking place from 15th – 22nd October, all set against the glorious backdrop of the Vale of Glamorgan.

Saturday 16th October at 7:30pm, Holy Cross Church Cowbridge
SOPHIKO SIMSIVE
Eighteen-year-old Sophiko Simsive from Georgia performs a programme for solo piano in a UK first performance.

As a concerto soloist she has performed at the Beethoven Festival in Bonn and made tours of Italy and the Netherlands.

Currently studying at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, Sophiko is the first prize recipient of the Princess Christina Competition in Holland and is rapidly establishing an exciting career as a solo pianist.

An Evening of South American & Spanish Music
with The Calvert-Turner Duo

Rowena Calvert (cello) and Eleanor Turner (harp) gave their first concert together in 2003 and have since performed in numerous venues across the UK to public acclaim, recently releasing their debut CD El Paño Moruno. Visit their website here.

Friday 22nd October at 7:30pm, Holy Cross Church Cowbridge
WYNNE EVANS & FRIENDS

Celebrated Welsh tenor Wynne Evans will be joined by two young Welsh talents, Huw Morgan (trumpet) and Mary Elliott (cello) for an evening of music by composers including Corelli, Schumann and Tchaikovsky. With accompaniment by pianist Jeff Howard.

Part of the proceeds from this concert will be donated to the Elizabeth Evans Trust which offers financial support to young Welsh musicians, actors and dancers to reach their full potential.
